THE REAGAN SHOW A FILM BY SIERRA PETTENGILL AND PACHO VELEZ WRITTEN BY JOSHUA ALEXANDER
Time Out hails THE REAGAN SHOW "a masterful documentary" and Rolling Stone calls it "a film that says volumes about then and now." THE REAGAN SHOW has garnered the support and positive reviews from a slew of reviewers nationwide and it opens this weekend in New York with Q&A events on both Friday and Saturday night. Constructed solely of archival materials from the Reagan Administration's 1980s reign, the film tracks the public-relations battle behind the Cold War's tumultuous end, highlighting the key role that Reagan's use of film and video played in his presidency. Presenting original recordings, framed only by our montage, is the best way for audiences to track Reagan through the end of the Cold War—with all its confusion, fear, humor and, above all, irony. Armed with the 20/20 vision that only hindsight can provide, our immersive, self-reflective approach invites viewers to look closely at—and question—the use of narrative in contemporary politics. We hope it will spark a dialogue regarding the use of narrative in contemporary politics.
